Note that this comes from the original evolution of the Web, in which:
- Web1: Read — data is published, but interaction is limited
- Web2: Read + write: data is published, and interaction is possible. This is the age of social media and many web based services, today.
- Web3: Read + write + own: which inherits all of the above, except it avoids the need for big centralized companies who sit in the middle and own all of data, and force all of the interactions to happen within them.
