A special kind of L2 blockchain in the context of Ethereum.
Rollups allow to scale the throughput of the L1 blockchain on top of which they are built, whilst inheriting at least parts of the Trustless properties of the L1. They also offer more customization, as the L2 blockchain has more freedom compared to a smart-contract hosted on L1.
